Consultancy for participatory development of behavior change communication materials
Duration: 18 days

Background:
CISP (Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli)
CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of higher education, child protection, culture, food security and nutrition. Currently, CISP is the Consortium lead for numerous development projects across multiple Counties and sectors in Kenya.
CISP is leading a consortium of partners to implement a Child Protection project funded by AICS in four sub-Counties in Nakuru and Kakamega Counties. The project is focusing on four components: prevention of child abuse, child participation and empowerment, capacity development and systems strengthening and participatory research.
With the existence of harmful social norms in Kakamega and Nakuru, the project is using innovative methodologies that will influence the community to abandon those negative social norms and take charge in addressing children concerns. The project is seeking to develop behavior change and communication materials through a participatory approach involving specific groups in the community in Kakamega and Nakuru counties. The materials developed will be used and disseminated through different channels in order to sensitize specific target groups in the community to address negative social norms that were identified through social norm assessments conducted and take action in promoting change.
The purpose of this assignment is to work with community members/key stakeholders including children in developing messages and tools to communicate those messages.
Objectives
· To facilitate sessions with specific members of the community including children to develop messages and material inspired by the identified themes/topics (social norm assessment report), using participatory visual arts methodologies as Photovoice, Drawing and painting, short video clips.
· To conduct the activity ensuring a safe and non-judgmental environment for participants to express freely. Support the selection of the best material and suggest in collaboration with CISP staff possible way to disseminate it (presentations, public exhibitions, online dissemination etc.)
List of deliverables
- Facilitation of 2 session (1 in each location) using participatory visual arts methodologies.
Selection of best visual material developed by participants and editing for dissemination and events.
Qualifications, experiences
- Strong facilitation skills
- At least 5 years’ experience as an art for social change facilitator.
- A deep understanding of child protection issues and social norms
- Experience in video and photography
- Able to establish and maintain effective and meaningful working relations with community and staff in general
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in developing a variety of participatory communication tools including participatory videos, painting drawings, photos

All applications should include the following;
- Technical proposal (max 5 pages):
The technical proposal should include (I) profile of the Consultant with particular emphasis on previous experience in this kind of work (ii) Clear explanation about how the task will be accomplished, which tools and methodologies will be used (iii) Draft work plan.
- Financial Proposal:
The financial proposal should provide cost estimates for services rendered including daily consultancy fees, excluding stationeries and supplies needed for the training volunteers and staff and transport and accommodation charges.
- At least 2 References to previous similar works.
