BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of health and nutrition, higher education, child protection and governance.
Job Purpose:
CISP is the lead agency of a consortium of partners implementing a multi-year EU-funded project on resilience building and food security in Tana Delta and Galole sub-Counties of Tana River County. The project is an integrated, multi-sectoral response to food security and sustainable livelihood challenges faced by agro-pastoralist and pastoralist communities, including drought and other effects of climate change. The project aims to enhance resilience of these communities through improving food and nutrition security of vulnerable households, especially for women and children, generating sustainable livelihoods and protecting productive assets. CISP is seeking an experienced project manager with technical expertise in the key sectors of intervention, as well as strong capacity to coordinate, supervise and support consortium partners, to lead the implementation of this project.
Role and responsibilities:
Project Implementation and Development
- Under the direct supervision of the Kenya Programme Coordinator, assume primary responsibility for the project management and consortium coordination of the EU-funded resilience building project, ensuring compliance with the donor’s and CISP’s administrative guidelines;
- Ensure quality implementation of the intervention, according to international and CISP standards, including synergy and coordination with partners;
- Prepare and submit required materials for accountability, visibility and communication, with the purpose of promoting and disseminating findings and best practices.
- Undertake monitoring missions to project sites on a regular basis for supervision, coaching and quality assurance.
- Identify at least 4 potential donors and funding opportunities and prepare and submit at least 4 proposals in the sectors of nutrition, food security, WASH, livelihoods and DRR.
HR Management
- Develop terms of reference for new project staff and consultants and support the selection process of project staff/consultants.
- Coordinate and oversee project staff from the consortium partners, and directly supervise CISP staff recruited under the project.
- Identify training needs, design and implement capacity building of project staff at least once every 6 months.
- Advise and support field officers from consortium partners on technical and managerial aspects of project**;**
Reporting
- Prepare and submit monthly and semi-annual financial and activity plans;
- Prepare and submit progressive monthly narrative and financial reports on the implementation of the projects under supervision, including consolidating reports from consortium partners, in a timely manner
- Ensure proper and timely utilization of funds for the project and prepare and submit quality narrative and financial project reports in accordance with the donors’ guidelines**;**
Representation and Coordination
- Work in strong collaboration with other CISP programme staff for participation in meetings, workshops and conferences.
- Represent CISP at periodic Nutrition, Food Security, Livelihoods, DRR and WASH-related strategic meetings and working groups at national and County levels and establish/strengthen relationship with authorities, partners and other stakeholders working in these sectors.
- Provide technical support to other CISP projects in the related sectors.
- Attend to any other task and responsibility as agreed with the Kenya Programme Coordinator**.**
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition, agriculture, food security, development studies, project management, or relevant fields
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with project management for development organizations
- Technical expertise in Nutrition, Food Security, WASH, Livelihoods and DRR
- Experience in working closely with local stakeholders including County authorities
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and orally
- Advanced skills and experience in coordination and supervision of local partners
- Ability to adapt to different cultures
- Experience and skills in management of staff
- Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions
- Strong IT skills including the use of Word and database software
- Strong skills in planning, organizing, cooperation and performance-oriented
- High degree of taking initiative and working independently
- Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving
