BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of health and nutrition, higher education, child protection and governance.

Job purpose

CISP is leading a consortium of partners to implement a Child Protection (CP) project funded by AICS in four sub-Counties in Nakuru and Kakamega Counties. The purpose of this position is to provide strategic, technical leadership and support in the service provision of the sub-County Children’s Offices (SCCO) in Nakuru and Kakamega Counties Child Protection project. The position will work closely with the County Coordinator for Children Services. The position will coordinate both CP response and prevention services, and build partnerships with key stakeholders in government, civil society and the private sector.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assume primary responsibility for planning and implementation of CP field activities in Nakuru and Kakamega, ensuring compliance with project proposal, work plan, budget donor regulations and national guidelines;
• Provide direct supervision, coaching and capacity building for the Counsellors and Social Workers;
• In close collaboration with the SCCOs, ensure comprehensive case management for all cases reported;
• Provide daily support to project partner staff in the target locations;
• Take the lead in the identification of training needs, designing and implementing capacity building of partners’ staff and key stakeholder/referral partners with the aim of providing quality care and protection to children in the targeted locations;
• Organize, facilitate, attend and represent CISP in meetings with key stakeholders engaged in CP at the field level;
• In coordination with the project partners, provide timely and quality progressive monthly narrative and financial reports on the implementation of the project;
• Ensure active and strong collaboration, information sharing and joint meetings with government partners, local authorities and other stakeholders working in Child Protection;
• Ensure child-friendly procedures are included in all project interventions;
• Provide structured advice, support and training to the project partners to improve service delivery, referral systems, data collection system, prevention strategies and sustainability plans;
• Assess gaps in the field of child protection, and design and initiate interventions and partnerships to address those gaps;
• Coordinate lobbying and advocacy activities with the relevant government officials and other partners at the field level;
• Conduct weekly planning meetings for all staff to discuss the activities, share ideas and any challenges;
• Provide timely information/feedback to the Project Manager of any emerging issue related to the project implementation;
• Support stress management and self-care for all SCCO staff and other project staff in collaboration with the Social Workers/Counsellors;
• Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Profile Required

Educational:

· Bachelor's degree in development studies, project management, child rights, or relevant fields

Technical / Professional:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience with development-related organisations

· Experience in Child Protection and in working with local stakeholders

· Experience with case management and SGBV programming is an added advantage

· Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and orally

· Ability to adapt to different cultures

· Experience and skills in management of staff

· Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions

· Good IT skills including the use of Word and database software

· Strong skills in planning, organizing, cooperation and performance-oriented,

· High degree of taking initiative and working independently

· Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving

· Commitment to CISP Values and Child Protection Policy.

· Have a valid certificate of good conduct.
