Cesvi is an international NGO mandated to work in emergency, recovery and development settings. It has been operational in Uganda since 2001, working mainly in the following sectors:
 Food security interventions (agricultural inputs, agro and agro-pastoralist field schools);
 Livelihoods and economic development (market rehabilitation, access to land, income generation initiatives);
 Service delivery sectors including water, education, health (HIV/AIDs, sanitation and hygiene promotion).
Cesvi’s mission is to transform into action the concept of ‘human solidarity and social justice into humanitarian aid and development initiatives for the affirmation of universal human rights’.
Cesvi in partnership with WFP is going to implement the General Food Distribution program in Palabek settlement; Lamwo district from 1st July 2018. In respect of this intervention, CESVI is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the position of a Project Assistant.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: The main purpose of the Project assistant is to support the Project manager in ensuring quality food distribution interventions in the field. Ensuring adequate mobilization of beneficiaries and other stakeholders. Ensuring all pre-distribution, Distribution and post distribution procedures are adhered to as per the Food distribution strategy. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assist the Project manager in roles to ensure successful implementation and coordination of the Food distribution interventions.  Take particular emphasis to ensure adequate mobilization of beneficiaries and other stake holders is carried out for effective food distribution.  Facilitate capacity building of the food team to meet established standards through on-the-job training, workshops, mentoring and other appropriate methods.  Ensure that proper food handling and accountability systems are in place including the maintenance of all required records and documentation.  Ensure humanitarian accountability systems are in place, functioning complaints Response Mechanism, and all Project Committee at field level.  Follow up and in liaison with Project Manager to ensure that food pipeline issues are well addressed.

 Participate in project design, proposal writing, budgeting process, and engaging various donors during the negotiation process.

 Compile periodic reports and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.

 Perform additional duties as may be assigned to you from time to time. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Past experience preferable with an NGO or UN agency, in food commodities handling tracking and accounting.

 Adequate knowledge and experience in food aid programs and Donors standards appropriate to the management of the food programs.

 Excellent Presentation and report writing skills

 Experience and skills in carrying out participatory community interventions

 Extensive experience in supervising staff and conducting capacity building workshops.

 In depth working Knowledge of computer office packages

 Ability to effectively develop rapport and relate to donors, NGOs, counterparts, and government agencies.

 Knowledge of humanitarian aid standards as well as accountability standards

 Ability to solve problems and prioritize many demands without losing focus.

 Prospective candidates should have a minimum of a University degree from a recognized University. At least 2 years work experience in a related field. Must have strong leadership and management skills
