WORK CONTEXT

Cesvi works in Libya since 2011. Following the turmoil of mid 2014 the expatriate staff has been temporarily evacuated, guaranteeing the management by remote.

Cesvi has been working in Western and Eastern Libya, with support from international donors and cooperating with local counterparts, since March 2011 in the following sectors:

  • Protection related issues
  • humanitarian assistance
  • civil society support
  • refugees, asylum seekers and migrants program
  • capacity building

by providing a strength and enhanced integrated service in order to address the specific needs in term of protection of Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Mixed Migrant Communities affected by the ongoing unstable situation in Libya.

Ongoing Project:
• UNHCR – “Protection and Life Saving Assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Libya”
• EU – “Strengthening protection and resilience of displaced populations in Libya”
• AICS Identificazione e supporto per migranti e richiedenti asilo in detenzione, Tariq al Matar, Tariq al Seqa, Tajoura”
• UNICEF Psychosocial Support and Remedial Education for children of IDPs and Refugees, in the Tawergha camps and Tripoli

JOB DESCRIPTION

As Intern She/ He will support Cesvi management in the supervision and development of Protection/Project activities and in carrying out any relevant tasks related to the positive implementation of operations.
S/he will contribute, under the direct supervision of the Protection Manger and second line management of the PM, in coordination with local staff and partners, to:

  • Support the Protection Manger during the preparation and submission of Protection-related activities reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual reports);
  • Assist the case management and referral system of Refugees and Asylum seekers (including Child and SGBV protection cases)
  • Provide support to the Database officer and the Cash, Protection and Outreach Coordinators in keeping all the activities related databases up to date according to the approved formats and internal guidelines;
  • Assist the Project Manager and the Protection Manger in writing and revising Project tools with regards to refugees, asylum seekers and mixed migrants in line with the Protection priorities of the organization;
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings, workshops, and training courses;
  • Perform any other related duties as may be requested by the Project Manager and Protection Officer.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • University Degree in human right law, social science, or development work or another relevant topic
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Interest in Development Cooperation environment and in learning more on refugees, Internally Displaced Person (IDP) issues particularly those related to conflict and stabilization.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of Middle East – Northern African countries
  • Master Degree in International Cooperation
  • Knowledge of French
  • Knowledge of Arabic language
