BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of health and nutrition, higher education, child protection and governance.
Job purpose
CISP is leading a consortium of partners to implement a Child Protection project funded by AICS in four sub-Counties in Nakuru and Kakamega Counties. The Advocacy Officer will implement the advocacy component of the Child Protection project at both County and National levels. The Officer will focus on formulation and dissemination of child protection policies, guidelines and County budgeting on Child Protection.
Role and Responsibilities
· Implement project activities as per plan in the target county/ies; Ensure quality implementation in accordance with CISP standards;
· Provide technical support in the formulation, implementation and dissemination of 5 key policies/guidelines on children at both national and County levels;
· Support relevant policy meetings convened by DCS and MOH, and support sensitization meetings of specific policies and guidelines at all levels;
· Attend and represent CISP in key meetings at county and national levels and facilitate meetings with county authorities and other stakeholders; ensure active collaboration and information sharing;
· Facilitate technical trainings/meetings for stakeholders and community members; submit training reports;
· Support Department of Children’s Services in the dissemination of PSS, ASRH policies, alternative care guidelines and SOPs for addressing SGBV;
· Ensure strong coordination with project partners;
· Support selection and coordination of consultants for implementation of project activities;
· Identify potential donors and funding opportunities, support preparation of proposals;
· Support preparation of materials for accountability, visibility and communication, with the purpose of promoting and disseminating findings and best practices; submit photo for each activity carried out;
· Contribute in the preparation of regular or ad-hoc documents (sheets, brochures, other) to disseminate at county and National level;
· Carry out assessments and surveys;
· Attend to any other task and responsibility as requested by the supervisors.
· support in overseeing external Communications at the field level including production and dissemination of visibility materials and collecting human interest stories.
Profile Required
Educational:
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, social policy or other relevant field
Technical / Professional:
· 3 years of experience in policy advocacy on humanitarian and development issues
· Experience in formulation, implementation and dissemination of policies/guidelines on children
· Experience in working with County governance/public participation in county budgeting
· Experience of influencing and advocacy work including policy development and information provision in children’s issues
· Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
· Excellent planning, management and coordination skills
· Experience in designing and facilitating training and capacity building sessions
· Strong communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills, with experience in working in multicultural teams
· Knowledge of children’s rights and key relevant international agreements and conventions
· Commitment to CISP values and Child Protection policy
· Have a valid certificate of good conduct.
