BACKGROUND
Cesvi is an independent humanitarian organisation working for global solidarity, founded in Italy in From that year to the present time, Cesvi has helped millions of people in Africa, Asia, Latin
America and Europe, working with hundreds of local associations and dealing with epochal
challenges such as the Balkan conflicts, famine in North Korea, pandemics in Africa, the Tsunami
tragedy, the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, the last cyclone in Mozambique and many other crises
and situations of poverty.
Indeed, Cesvi operates worldwide to support the most vulnerable populations in promoting their wellbeing
and achieving their ambitions, for sustainable development. This is achieved through both
emergency and development projects, in support of the weakest categories – children, women,
elderly and social outcasts, supporting them in meeting their needs with the objective of promoting
self-sufficiency in a sustainable future.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Local Accountant will work towards the implementation of “**GREEN HOPES: Heightening**
Opportunities for Promoting Employment and Sustainability”, a project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). It aims to foster socio-economic services that promote access to paid employment and regular income. This will help improving employment rates and economic opportunities for marginalized people, such as refugees, displaced persons and host communities in the peri-urban areas of the Governorate of Erbil. To achieve this goal, the project will develop specific skills that are market-oriented and key in accessing more sustainable job opportunities, as well as resources to improve one's ability to access the labour market.
The collaboration will start as soon as possible and will last u**ntil the end of Decembe**r with
possibilities of extension.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- guarantee the financial-administrative management of the project, including the cash management, liaising activities with banks and expenses imputation
- in coordination with the PM, care for the preparation of financial plans, fund requests to Cesvi HQ, forecasts, budget analysis
- closely monitor all administrative and financial activities and share analysis with the concerned Cesvi staff
- guarantees administrative-financial obligations required by local legislation
- ensure the correct application of Cesvi and the donor’s procedures
- be responsible of the correct archiving of documents and project’s goods
- ensure an adequate and timely communication regarding the financial fluxes with the Project team and Cesvi HQ
- be responsible for the drafting of the interim and final financial reports in accordance with the donor’s procedures and formats, and in coordination with the PM and Cesvi HQ
- continuously monitor the local partner expenses’ reporting, checking all the related documentation
- continuously coordinate with Cesvi project team and with the administrative staff of the local partner
- ensure full compliance with local legislation in terms of taxation, labour law, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
- Iraqi and Kurds nationality
- Diploma in accounting
- Previous experience in emergency/development projects. Previous experience with the Italian Cooperation is a plus
- Proven previous experience of at least 3 years in similar positions for international NGOs
- Experience with International NGOs accounting packages and willingness to learn how to use the Cesvi accounting system
- Wide knowledge of the local legal context, e.g. local and international NGOs Law, Labour
- Law, taxes duties, etc.
- Knowledge of local languages (Kurdish and Arabic)
- Knowledge of English, written and spoken
- Excellent capacity on intercultural mediation
- Flexibility and discretion at all levels of work
GROSS SALARY RANGE: 1300-1500 usd
